Carrieme Gift Packaging: A Journey in Design

Zi Huai Shen's Award-Winning Conceptualization of Travel-Inspired Skin Care Packaging

Carrieme Gift Packaging, designed by Zi Huai Shen, is a unique skin care product packaging that draws its inspiration from the concept of girls' travel demands. The design tells the story of a girl named CarrieMe, traveling to Paris. The packaging is crafted in six different visual representations, each color-matched with French dessert macaroons to create a delightful atmosphere.

What sets this design apart is its unique storytelling approach. The names of the CarrieMe skin care products in this series are derived from a girl's travel story in Paris. The packaging design incorporates visual symbols of Paris, including the impression of rain and the Eiffel Tower, evoking a sense of romance associated with the city.

The packaging material consists of Aluminum and Box, cleverly utilizing the characteristics of a mailbox to convey the concept of a postcard. This concept informs the maintenance portable package of traveling, adding an interactive element to the design. The technical specifications of the design are a width of 90mm, a depth of 55mm, and a height of 135mm.

The design process started in January 2015 in Taiwan and concluded in November 2015. The underlying research for this design involved connecting the Girl image of CarrieMe with a postcard, thereby delivering the emotion of a girl's traveling expectation. This distinctive creation links the art of travel, postcard, and mailbox closely to interact with customers.

One of the challenges overcome in this design was the placement of the portable-package. By extracting the travel maintenance portable-package from the bottom of the travel maintenance function box, applying it on the skin, and inserting the unused portable-package in the top of the mailbox, the design effectively solved the placement problem of the portable-package.

The Carrieme Gift Packaging design was awarded the Golden A' Packaging Design Award in 2017, a prestigious accolade granted to outstanding and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom. These venerated products and bright ideas advance art, science, design, and technology, embodying extraordinary excellence and significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics.
